You might wonder why a site called Redwood Informatics is offering photographic prints for sale. Well, that's not all that's on offer and not where it all started! You might have noticed that the home page speaks of photographic prints, greeting cards & more. Well the 'more' is where it all started.
I really enjoy photography but my professional backround is in manufacturing informatics. Now that's a bit of a mouthfull! I won't get into detail of that here, although it is where my main consultancy work started after years of research into how to better support manufacturing industry through multi-perspective knowledge sharing. That, and the impressive sequoia in our garden, is where the name came from. I do still do some consultancy in manufacturing informatics so, If you have an interest, you can check out my research publications here or do feel free to contact me using the link below.
Photographs give me great pleasure and I especially like taking interesting images of landscapes, flora and fauna. One positive thing that Covid-19 and the resulting lockdowns did for me was to give me much more time to develop my interest in this. Now I have a range of photographs, some that I like, many that I've deleted and some that I feel should not just sit in my computer, but should be shared with others, if they like them. Hence my decision to create this web site and offer a few images for sale.
I live in the Charnwood area so most of my photographs have been taken in this beautiful area of Leicestershire. A few come from various holiday adventures.
Not only have I had to develop my photography skills and web design skills, but I've also enjoyed building an understanding of high quality printing and the need to have a high quality printer, high quality inks and excellent archival paper in order to produce top quality, long lasting prints.
Developing web design skills has also been a part of the 'more' activitiy that I've been involved with. That started when groups in the village were in need of simple websites, so I started learning how to build them. This has resuled in a few websites for village groups as well as my own, which has been a bit more complex. Examples of these can be found in our local history group, a heritage lottery project to restore our local St Paul's church, and the local Agora store
I hope that you find the prints and cards on offer here to be of interest and I'd be very happy to hear your views. My plan is to develop the web site further and to offer further options on images. This is a new venture and this is still an early editiion!
